Classic Board Game Info

Linux apps & ARM architecture?
I’m considering putting together a portable gaming device, and was planning on using a Pico-ITX board, mostly because it was x86 and could run Windows, but would ARM+Linux be an option?
I know that Linux has a decent selection of classic console emulators, but (without actually having a distribution) how can I find out whether there are ARM-compatible versions available?
If I were to ask a few of these emulator devs to create ARM-compatible versions, how much work would be involved? Could I maybe even do it myself? (read somewhere that it’s basically just a recompile, but this could be false)
Any info greatly appreciated. =)
Software for ARM can be limited, if you can’t get something from Distro’s repository, you will have to compile from source, if the source is available and will compile successfully. Devs rarely build for other architectures unless there interest from more than a few people.
The good news is I checked Debian and they have the popular MAME emulator for ARM
